Whey Processing Plant
Milk contains quite high level of minerals at about 0.7-0.8% on an average much of
minerals contain whey which is utilize for making energetic & valuable whey powder.
Whey is a by-product of the hard , semi hard or soft cheese and rennet casein is
known as sweet whey. Production process containing protein, fat, lactose sugars, and
salts. Whey is processed to recover fat, protein, and sugars, creating a low-value,
high BOD, whey permeate stream.
It will have wide range of applications, especially in the food industry. Condensed
whey and whey powder can be used for both production of foodstuffs and animal feed.
RAJ Process has proven experience in project management of major capital projects,
process knowhow and active involvement in the development of the Turnkey Plants
makes RAJ Process ideal partner for whey processing plant and expertise allowing us
to present the best technological solution, not only at the processing economy but
also at the product quality.
Process Description
Separated whey conveyed to whey pretreatment, raw whey is pasteurized & reverse
osmosis process takes place. (Nourishing of whey) The basic concentration and drying
processes may sometimes be combined with demineralization processes such as ion
exchange, electro dialysis or nanofiltration to improve the quality of the product.
Reverse osmosis is sometimes complimentary process used for preconcentration of whey
before being evaporated in evaporators. Drying of the concentrated whey is normally
carried out in spray dryers.
